Scope of Course

This is the course everyone thinks they don't need—until they start watching and suddenly feel the overwhelming urge to apologize to their dog for not being more fun...

  • Transform ordinary rewards into jackpots - Turn mealtimes and predatory play into high-value reward events your dog will hunt for

  • Perfect your marker timing - Link terminal markers directly into jackpot rewards for maximum behavioral impact

  • Build toughness the right way - Use pressure as a tool to forge commitment to rewards and behaviors (not break your dog's spirit)

  • Develop cornerstone behaviors - Master the Dopamine Box, Retrieve, and Triangle Drill that thread into countless training applications

  • Focus on what matters - Prioritize mental and emotional criteria alongside physical form to create willing participants, not robots

FAQ

  • What makes this different from other dog training courses?

This isn't about learning another rigid training "system" - it's about mastering universal principles that work with ANY approach you're already using. We literally act out training concepts with beer and Skittles to make the psychology crystal clear, then show you real progressions with actual dogs. These foundational principles of attitude, toughness, and jackpot rewards will amplify whatever method you choose. Think of it as the "why" behind great training, not just another "how-to." Plus, where else are you going to see professional trainers demonstrate dog psychology using snack food and beer? We make complex concepts stupidly simple to understand.

  • Is this a good fit for pet dog owners?

Absolutely. Whether you want a hiking buddy who comes when called or a couch companion who doesn't destroy your house, these foundational concepts apply to every dog.

  • Is this suitable for sport dog owners?

100%. The cornerstone behaviors and attitude-building strategies are essential for any performance dog. Power, toughness, and commitment aren't just nice-to-haves in competition - they're requirements.

  • Will this work for working dog handlers?

Yes. These principles scale from pet dogs to police K9s. The psychology doesn't change whether you're teaching a retrieve or detection work.

  • Are there any drawbacks to learning this?

Fair warning: You might end up with a dog that's too clear, too powerful, and too eager to work. Your neighbors may start asking uncomfortable questions about why their dog looks depressed compared to yours.

Instructor(s)

Professional Dog Trainer Chris Williams

Chris is a seasoned dog trainer and the owner of Run Your Pack: Pet Training and Working K9s, based outside Missoula, Montana. He also runs Work Your Pack Productions and is the Co-Owner and Training Director of Dirty Bandana Working Dogs. With advanced certifications in pet and working dog training earned through hands-on experience with top schools and mentors across the country, Chris doesn’t just train dogs—he builds working partnerships. When he’s not helping students with their dogs in Western Montana, he’s out with law enforcement teams, competing in PSA, deploying his tracking dog for military evasion drills, or hitting the road to teach seminars nationwide. If he’s not behind a camera or brushing dog hair off his gear, Chris is with his wife, trying to figure out how their three young kids somehow run the household.

Professional Dog Trainer Joe Hodge

Joe grew up always having a dog in the house but his first real experience working with dogs came when he was in the military. As a former Army Ranger at 3rd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment he worked alongside numerous K9s. Towards the end of his military career he started working as an Army K9 handler before being medically discharged in 2016. While transitioning out of the military Joe’s wife Emily purchased him an 8wk old lab mix named Porter as a wedding gift. He started spending his free time training Porter and ultimately decided to pursue canine training as a full-time career. He has been mentored and coached by some of the best trainers in the world. He has continued his education by attending Animal Behavior College, American K-9 Interdiction, and NePoPo® Gold School. In 2021, after working as the Training Director for one of Arizona’s largest board and train facilities, he decided to pursue his own training business. Joe lives in Chandler, AZ with his wife Emily and his two daughters Miliana and Cecilia.
